AMD pink-slips 500 employees
After losing $67 million last quarter, Advanced Micro Devices will be laying off 500 employees. The sagging processor maker has had the shit kicked out of them by Intel lately, and is showing signs that the pricing war is taking its toll. A company blowhard muttered a few words about objectives in this boilerplate statement:
“Today’s announced headcount reduction is an unfortunate but necessary part of this process to help us align our people with the focused programs that achieve our objectives, eliminate duplication of efforts and allow us to operate more efficiently.”

I had a relative there let go yesterday after 20 years. The big salaried people stay, and run the fukcing company into the ground, and the one’s working to keep the company alfoat get fucked.
Next time I buy a PC it is NOT Dell and NOT AMD. Though AMD chips in the big manufacturers are rarer and rarer…
yeah they really are becoming rarer and rarer… the major pc makers have seemingly started to shun AMD
